NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Tennessee man on death row has refused to select the manner of death for his execution next month. Attorneys for Harold “Wayne” Nichols said Tuesday that the state defaulted to lethal injection after the 64-year-old refused to choose between that and the electric chair.
Ohio passed a law in 2021 that exempted people with mental illnesses from being executed. Nine inmates have been removed from death row.
